🚗 By car
- A1 to/from Lübeck (NE) or Bremen, Cologne (SW)
- A7 to/from Flensburg, Kiel (N) or Hanover, Kassel (S)
- A23 to/from Heide
- A24 to/from Berlin
- Many P+R (Park+Ride) areas outside the city center for easy public transport access.
- Be prepared to pay for parking in the city.
✈️ By plane
- Hamburg Airport (HAM) – fifth-largest in Germany, many European connections.
- S-Bahn S1 connects airport to central station in ~30 minutes (every 10-20 min, €3.30).
- Note: Only the first three cars of S1 go to the airport from the city center.
- No trains between midnight and 4 AM, but a bus is available.
- Airport surrounded by parks and green spaces, popular for plane spotting.
